THE FOUNDATION is a 501(c)(3) created to improve cancer care and treatment, with emphasis on breast cancer.  Its namesake, ADELE R. DECOF, was a remarkable woman of vision who battled breast cancer with grace and courage for eight years, all the time working to make treatment better for those who came after her. 

TO CARRY ON HER MISSION, the Foundation endows qualified hospitals and cancer centers to develop advanced treatment programs designed for each individual patient.  The goal is to provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art treatment; preserve dignity; improve quality of life; and maximize patients' potential for recovery.  

IN RHODE ISLAND, where cancer rates are higher than the national average, hospitals are straining to keep pace with a high  demand for state-of-the-art cancer care and treatment.  The Foundation supports cancer programs in underserved community areas, to provide all cancer patients with the best available treatment in a setting close to home. 

TO SUPPORT THESE GOALS, the Foundation runs the annual ADELE DECOF INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT, held in late August at a local private golf club.  Each year the Tournament welcomes a number of PGA Tour pros to teach and play with amateurs in a setting of relaxed fun and friendly competition.  In recent years the Foundation has also sponsored galas, luncheons, fashion shows and auctions. With these events, to date  the Foundation has raised  and donated over $1,000,000 to fight cancer.
