STRENGTH, CARING AND COMPASSION were the hallmarks of Adele R. Decof's character, and set the tone for Foundation-endowed programs.
WE ENDOW qualified established cancer programs that offer state-of-the-art treatment, coordinated care and easily accessible services with expert physicians and caregivers, in a milieu designed to meet the needs of the individual patient.
WITH THE JOINT EFFORTS of the Foundation and its grantees, the endowed programs are leading the way in raising standards of cancer care, forging new and better treatments, and striving on behalf of the patients and families they serve to provide the best, most comprehensive care and treatment available.
IN 2002 THE ADELE R. DECOF CANCER CENTER at Roger Willams Medical Center was dedicated. Soon after, the Center established the first Patient Navigator position for cancer patients. In 2009 the Center was expanded to bring multidisciplinary treatment to patients in one easy location. Today it continues to provide outstanding care and treatment to all who need it.
IN 2006THEADELE R. DECOF CANCER CENTER at The Miriam Hospital was dedicated. The Foundation helped purchase the hospital's first digital mammography machine, resulting in earlier detection of tumors and better prognoses. Five years after opening, a major expansion and upgrade of services was already needed, to accommodate the overflow of patients in this very successful program.
IN 2011 the Center was rededicated as THE LEONARD AND ADELE R. DECOF FAMILY COMPREHENSIVE CANCER CENTER at The Miriam Hospital. With expansion nearly completed, funding was provided to add two new full-time Patient Navigators to the staff. 2012 will see the full expansion of the Center to accommodate increasing patient demand and improve all levels of service.
