TRENGTH, CARING AND COMPASSION were the hallmarks of Adele R. Decof's character, and now set the tone for Foundation-endowed cancer programs.

We endow qualified cancer programs and institutions which offer or will develop a treatment program to include state-of-the-art treatment options from a network of expert physicians and caregivers, in a setting of coordinated care designed to meet the needs of the individual patient. In collaboration with allied and kindred healthcare providers nationwide, we will bring those options to community treatment centers most accessible to the patient.

Programs endowed by the ADELE R. DECOF FOUNDATION offer an innovative, multidisciplinary approach to treating cancer, which will provide a model of health care for medical institutions throughout the country.

In 2002 the ADELE R. DECOF FOUNDATION pledged $2 million to Roger Williams Medical Center in Providence, RI, to improve and expand its cancer treatment program. July 2002 saw the dedication of the Adele R. Decof Cancer Center at Roger Williams Medical Center. With the Foundation's help the Center established the first Patient Navigator position to help patients manage all aspects of their treatment.

On June 15, 2006, the second Adele R. Decof Cancer Center was dedicated at The Miriam Hospital in Providence, a cancer center of excellence treating twice the number of patients it was built to accommodate. The Foundation pledged $1 million to upgrade medical equipment, improve and expand patient services. With Foundation funding the Center will install the hospital's first digital mammography machine.

The Foundation works hand in hand with qualified grantee cancer programs to provide continued excellence of treatment. Patients receive the benefits of the finest scientific knowledge, the most meticulous care, and the comfort and nurture which meets their unique needs, minimizes their suffering, and optimizes their chances for the best possible quality of life.

With the joint efforts of the ADELE R. DECOF FOUNDATION and its grantees, the endowed cancer programs will lead the way in raising standards of cancer treatment, forging new research and innovative care, and striving on behalf of the patients and families they serve to provide the best, most comprehensive care and treatment available.
